How Color Overlays Can Help
Dyslexia is way more common than people think. It affects about 10% of the population, and only in the United States, more than 40 million adults struggle with this condition. Dyslexia is typically diagnosed during early childhood, mainly detected by educators in the Classroom. Throughout time, several ways to treat dyslexia have been developed, and even though science continues to amaze us in this and other fields, color overlays remain a very effective way to provide support to someone who struggles with this condition.
Whether it is for your child or your students, colored overlays might be a powerful ally when it comes to improving reading comprehension and academic performance. See It Right is here to provide you with colorful overlays you can use to help children improve this aspect of their lives.
Take a look at what See It Right has to offer and how our color overlays can make a significant change in a child’s life.
Colored overlays have been proven to be relatively effective in most cases of children with dyslexia. According to research, colored lenses can improve children's reading, writing, and comprehension abilities, which will eventually lead to an improvement in their academic proficiency.
See It Right will provide you with a kit that contains a few thin sheets of colored plastic, which you can place over text in order to have the desired effect. These sheets may vary in color, size, and transparency, meaning that it could take you a while to find the right solution for a particular person.
The simple inclusion of red overlays (for example) in a child's life can make a huge difference in their future. Not only will they be able to start improving their current skills, but they will also be able to start developing even more advanced abilities as they are not much hindered by this learning condition. Of course, this isn't a permanent solution, but it can work exceptionally well with any other treatment for dyslexia that the kid might have been recommended at the moment.
Trial & Error
You will be able to choose from a wide variety of colored sheets. Upon receiving the kit, you will have to test different color overlays until you find the ones that work best for that particular student. It may take you a while to finally discover what works best for that kid, but the results will be worth it in the long term. You can think of it as an investment for their future.
When we say “trial and error," it is because not all colors work the same for all individuals. Some children prefer blue overlays over yellow ones, for example. You might have to sit down with them for a while until you finally get it right.
You should also take into account their preferences – not just the colors themselves. If a kid feels more comfortable while using a particular color overlay over others, then you’ve already found your solution. You can take a look at our training page for more info!
Colorful Overlays – A Fun Way to Help Children with Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a very common condition. Unfortunately, if left untreated, it could have negative consequences in the child's life especially when it comes to their professional future. Part of the mission of the See It Right team is to help children in the USA – and across the world – to be able to have the same opportunities as everyone else. Remember that dyslexia is considered to be a learning disorder, and while it may not be as easy to notice as others, it is still a problem that exists and needs to be addressed.
Color overlays may make reading time a bit more interesting for the kid as well since you're including a new element that could catch their eye. It's important for you to try to make this process as interactive and smooth as possible.
For children, it may take them a while to get used to the colorful overlays, but it’s just a matter of time until they finally come to terms with it. Positive reinforcement and constant practice for some of the essential skills, such as reading or writing, are necessary to see if the solution is coming to fruition.
